What Do I Need when Riding a Speed Pedelec?

When riding a speed pedelec, you must always comply with the legislation, which differs from that of a standard (electric) bicycle. You also need a license plate that is provided by the RDW with a new speed pedelec.
The bicycle dealer will inform you about the current requirements and handle the license plate registration.

Please note:

• • You must carry your license plate card with you on every ride.

• • You must have a valid driver’s license since speed bikes can reach speeds of up to 45km/h. A type B (car) or type AM (moped) license is sufficient.

• • You are required to wear a bicycle helmet.

• • You must follow the traffic rules that apply to speed bikes. Any traffic fines will be sent to Cyclis, and we will pass these charges on to you.

• • If documents are lost, Cyclis will charge you administrative fees.
